Mesquite Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee votes to urge Dallas County Commissioners Court to hold a $20 million road bond election likely in November tied to the Texas Constitution vote. They aim to unlock $105 million in federal funds by matching $20 million locally amid the defeated May 20 bond issue.
Ten Mesquite boys ages eight to fourteen await Big Brothers as the public library hosts a screening of A Friend For Joey. He plans to move to Paris Texas to attend Paris Junior College for watchmaking with his 15 year old son joining him. police and Mrs Chaffin seek information at 285 7765 or Mesquite Police.
City officials seek to restore aluminum recycling after National Reclamation Corp halted pickups behind Hillcrest Community Center. Cavazos will propose a plan to the Mesquite City Council as residents are asked to hold aluminum until arrangements are set.
Rain in Mesquite pushes monthly total higher with 1.04 inches recorded by Frank Schultz Jr on Tuesday and 1.50 inches tallied by Bert Walden for the week. Walden notes May rainfall at 5.90 inches as area stays above normal.
