Suits Filed In Frog Farm Case
Two Mesquite residents are among several plaintiffs filing more than 50 000 in damages over alleged frog farm fraud. Plaintiffs paid at least 2800 each for distributorships promised unlimited profit. Federal indictments accuse Texas Frog Farms of Dallas of misrepresenting production and profits to investors claiming 6500 acres in production and year round frog farming.

One Car Crash Injures Two Youths in Mesquite
At 11 p.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Sam Houston Rd a 1965 Chevrolet Impala skidded 67 feet crossing Sam Houston Rd and a drainage ditch. Driver Douglas L Johnson 15 of 1211 Lorraine Ln Mesquite sustained minor injuries. Passenger Danny Kelly 14 of 1337 Mesquite suffered serious injuries. Both were taken to Mesquite General Hospital and Kelly was later sent to Baylor Hospital where his condition was reported fair.

Mesquite flavor highlighted Cotton Bowl festivities
Mesquite hosts six Kilgore Rangerette girls and the Nebraska and Oklahoma bands for the Cotton Bowl events in Dallas. The Kilgore Rangerettes perform in the parade and both pregame and halftime shows on CBS Channel 4, with the Nebraska marching band also in attendance. The 17th Cotton Bowl Festival Parade, titled A Dream Comes True, features 52 units, a largely cottonless float lineup, and the Maid of Cotton and Miss Canada among entrants. Weather forecasts call for partly cloudy skies around 42 to 45 degrees with north winds 12 to 18 mph. The CBS telecast begins at 9:30 am on Channel 4.
