FBI report shows violent crime rising 3 percent nationwide from 1972 to 1973 through September. Major rural crime up 6 percent and suburban serious crime up 5 percent, based on voluntary local and state police data. The data reflect murder rape robbery and aggravated assault among a broader set of offenses.
