Guerrilla hijacks jet to Damascus after Beirut attempt
Arab guerrillas who killed about three dozen people forced a hijacked Lufthansa jet to fly to the Middle East. The aircraft, after failing to extract Greece’s release of two Palestinian commandos, diverted from Beirut to Damascus for refueling and then continued toward an unannounced destination in the Persian Gulf. Damascus officials confirmed the plan and said the jet headed southeast from the airport.
