Mesquite Planning Commission schedules six tract zoning hearing
Mesquite Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a six tract public hearing Monday December 8 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers to amend the Zoning Ordinance from A-3 Multi-Family to Planned Development for six tracts bounded by Belt Line Road Town East Boulevard and the Galloway extension and I-30. The panel will also review the Planning Work Program with City Planner Steve Fanning approve Nov 24 minutes and discuss the joint session with the City Council.

Robbery Attempt at Taco Bell in Mesquite Foiled
Mesquite police investigated an attempted armed robbery at Taco Bell 4545 Gus Thomasson Road early Friday. Two young white males, about 18 to 20, sprayed mace at an employee near the back door, tried to grab cash, but the employee dodged the spray and the suspects fled on foot. Police continue the investigation.

Death by Own Action Ruled in Mesquite Man
Wilbert R. Tazelaar 67 of 25300 Interstate Blvd Mesquite died after a self inflicted gunshot wound. Police found him Tuesday afternoon and the Medical Examiner ruled death by his own action. Burial followed in Chicago after services at Dudley M Hughes Chapel officiated by Rev Norman Jenson.

Woman Arrest Clears Check Forgery Cases in Mesquite
Mesquite Police hold a 35-year-old white female in custody after she attempted to pass a $500 forged check at Town East Mall. Investigators say her arrest clears about $12,000 in purchased merchandise obtained with forged funds. Police and Dallas officers recovered $7,100 in property including fine furniture and appliances, plus a $1,100 mink coat and $1,000 blue fox coat. Further forged checks were cashed across Mesquite Dallas and nearby cities.
