JOBS program in Arizona seeks $1.4 million boost
DES deputy director told the House Human Services Committee that even with the extra 1.4 million in funding, about 15,000 Arizonans on the JOBS program will still wait for assistance. The bill would cap welfare benefits for adults at two years in five, while shielding funds for children. Democrats push for more federal match funding. Republicans resist. The program aims to expand counselors and add staff to serve the demand.
