Gas blast devastates Middlesex complex injuring many
A late report described 250 homeless and dozens injured after a massive gas pipeline explosion near a Middlesex County apartment complex. Flames rose over 100 feet as fires ignited buildings and cars. A 32-year-old woman died of a heart attack. hospital officials reported at least 100 injured. The 36-inch pipe, installed in 1961 and owned by Texas Eastern Transmission, ran nearby as investigators probed the blast’s cause.
