Emergency rooms and family clinics in the Valley report crowded weekends and after hours with flu patients. Doctors warn the illness remains active at a lower intensity, with both respiratory and gastrointestinal strains affecting 60 percent of Desert Samaritan's ER visits. Local officials note Arizona remains at a regional flu level, while some Mesa clinics see mainly upper respiratory problems tied to pollution rather than flu.
