EPA deregulates aromatic cedar as pesticide status ends
The EPA deregulated cedar as of March 21 after decades of classifying it as a pesticide. Cedar Fresh and Aromatic Cedar Council head Jay Butera recounts pushing to register 100 percent natural cedar products in 1991, removing warnings and altering labeling, which cost millions in sales. Richard Mountfort of EPA notes regulators spent resources on non toxic cedar with no public protection.
