The Star reports Tucson Land Office will officially file the coal field plat after a 30 day posting period. The date is fixed as November 19 1898 at 9 am, and no filings will be recognized before then though explorers may proceed.
The Yuma Sun reports rapid work on the Southern Pacific steel bridge over the Colorado at Yuma. Falsework supports current structure. old piers will be removed and replaced with stronger ones.
