Verde canal project eyed by Minnesota and Arizona Construction

Safford reports S. R. H. Robinson, president of Minnesota and Arizona Construction Co., touring from Globe to Phoenix to confirm a two year Verde canal and dam project. He plans 400 Missouri mules, joins with 200 preexisting, to form 300 teams for construction. The canal will run 215 miles amid prime farming lands with a storage dam near the Verde valley head.

Dr Scott Helm Dies After Riding Accident in Phoenix

Dr Scott Helm a leading Phoenix physician since 1888 died after his horse reared at the M and P depot causing a head injury from which he did not recover. He served as Territorial Surgeon General and was an honorary member of the Phoenix Fire Department and National Guard. Thousands attended the funeral with a long procession including the National Guard fire department Masons Odd Fellows Workmen and Elks.
