The A Mesa Free Press notes Phoenix gears up for a grand carnival and reports local visits, rentals, and business moves. J Holdren returns from California and J H Rock procures horses for the Phoenix Fire Department while many residents plan trips and work on local ventures.
District Court sees additional filings in water-related suits with three cases chosen as test actions. It is hoped to resolve the dispute soon, as the issue affects the valley and broader territory. Also noted are school enrollment and attendance figures for the town.
Advertisements tout Pain Balm for sprains bruises and rheumatism as unsurpassed. Local druggists J W Baily and B M Johnson & Bros expand a Ray mine store. Rev S A Donihoe recalls recovery from a December 10 1897 cold after using Chamberlains Cough Remedy and endorses it. For sale by J W Baily Druggist.
Proclaiming generosity, the Dr King's New Discovery proprietors announce they have given away more than ten million trial bottles to assist the needy. The medicine claims to cure asthma bronchitis hoarseness and lung diseases with a guarantee or refund of price. Carlton J H Bartlett advertises a free trial bottle and notes regular sizes of 50 cents and one dollar.
Administratrix Hannan Williams notifies all creditors and claimants of Robert L Williams Deceased to present their claims with vouchers within four months after first publication. Claims to be exhibited at Lehi Maricopa County Arizona the place for estate business. Dated October 7 1899.
A number of traveling men have been in town during the past week, drawing local notice for their movements and activities.
Idaville seller J W Gardner touts Electric Bitters as a remedy for stomach, liver, kidney troubles and related symptoms. He testifies it revived his appetite and vigor, claiming renewed health and energy. Bottles 50 cents at J H Barnett's Drug Store with guarantee. Mesa water shares noted at high prices.
The Maricopa and Phoenix line resumes Sunday trips from Mesa starting June 4 and each Sunday through the season. Round trip fares are 75 cents from Mesa and 50 cents from Tempe, with tickets valid only on the sale date. Trains 6 and 7 are canceled on Sundays while special trains depart Mesa at 5:00 p.m. and Tempe at 5:35 p.m. for Phoenix, returning at 10:00 p.m. Pacific time.
