Engineer A. Ralston in charge of Mammoth mine engine fell into a 170 foot shaft at 4 am Tuesday while dumping a car. The car pulled after him, leaving him headfirst at the bottom with broken neck and shoulders. two other miners unharmed. His sister in Coloma, California was notified and requested burial in Goldfield. coroner unable to reach due to river conditions.
