Fourth of July in Mesa Crowds Bowery For Celebration

Mesa hosts a patriotic Fourth with a large turnout from town and country. The Mesa Cornet Band played excellent music as Mrs. Rose Lewis read the Declaration and Judge Way delivered an eloquent address. Vocal solo by Mrs. Nettie Johnson and an evening grand ball in Co Op hall capped the day of festivities.

Correction of Death Certificate for George Leighty

An affidavit dated July 8 1896 from Jerr E Johnson Mesa Arizona Territory states George Leighty died at his home on July 3 after four or five days of illness and three congestive chills. He was not treated by a doctor or given medicine except a purgative before dying of congestive fever. Notary T E Pomeroy testified. Chamberlains Cough Remedy advertised for sale by druggists.
