The Mesa Free Press reports a citizen committee in Phoenix backing a reservoir system to serve 750 000 acres with a 750 000 share company and land water rights linked to annual charges. Officials note strong local interest and a path toward extensive water storage benefiting the valley's growth.
An eight year old narrator writes of a poor man tempted by a bribe to drink. He resists at the saloon door and later finds a pocketbook with 100 million dollars. He marries the candy heiress, they have twins, and the story proclaims virtue its own reward.
The government has started a military road from Rice station on the G W G N line nine miles from San Carlos to Fort Apache about eighty miles distant. The road will transport supplies to the fort in bad weather. All apples come in from Holbrook, but winter roads are impassable and longer than the proposed route. W O Tuttle of San Carlos has a force of Indians at work.
Intense interest surrounds a mammoth copper, gold and silver deposition at Gan Creek, twenty miles east of Payson. Ledges run fifty to seventy-five feet wide and are capped with iron. Copper is the dominant value of the ore. Star.

The notice directs travelers to the Southern Pacific for route selection and best connections. The Phoenix Short Line restarts a Phoenix to Maricopa Pullman run with departures at seven p m and continuing until six a m the next day. Passengers may ride without reserving rooms in Maricopa, easing overnight travel.
The Southern Pacific announces a new fast service the Sunset Limited running from Chicago to the Pacific Coast with solid vestibuled Pullman cars and dining, starting about November 1 and then twice weekly. A New Orleans to San Francisco fast train will connect with Atlantic Coast routes, plus four fast trains weekly from Maricopa via the Sunset route. For details contact M Q Bicknell GP.
