Editor notes W J Murphy reports strong backing for reorganization of the Arizona canal and improvement companies. Plans include dredges and a large reservoir network with two mountain sites to store winter floods for summer use, targeting 500 000 acres of irrigation and a multi-year development program.
The Yuma school board approved restoring over a month’s salary to teachers for time lost during the scarlet fever epidemic. They also decide no holidays for the remainder of the term, keeping schools open through to term end.
At a recent executive committee meeting of the cattle association held on the 20th in Tucson, a mass meeting was decided for all persons directly interested in range cattle. The agenda covers potential changes in stock laws by the incoming legislature and measures to curb cattle stealing.

The Southern Pacific will launch the Sunset Limited from Chicago to the Pacific Coast with a first run around November 1 and then twice weekly. The solid vestibuled Pullman train includes dining and full service. A second weekly fast train will run between New Orleans and San Francisco connecting with Atlantic Coast trains.
