Knight Jones Wedding United Knight and May Jones
Charles P. Knight and Miss May Jones wed at Bethesda Springs in a carriage ceremony at two o clock on Sunday. Rev J Greene officiated for the M E church south as the couple became husband and wife. They will reside in the Knight building suite. Knight manages Mena Grocery Co and is regarded as a popular young businessman.

Friday night's Hoo Hoo lumbermen's banquet welcomed fifteen initiates with music by the Port Arthur Route band. The ceremony ran from eight until midnight then moved to Hotel Mena for an elegant banquet and continued merriment. A meeting at Janssen park discussed forming a Polk county fair association. A tract near Mena with a half mile track could cost about 2040 dollars to buy build and fence. A twenty member committee was appointed to canvass for stock subscriptions at ten dollars per share with a target of at least 9500 dollars. The effort aims to hold a fair next year and a list of committeemen from various towns was named.

Eureka Slate Co organized in this city with W L Boyer as president and F M Cockrell as vice president. Capital stock of 10000 fully subscribed. Boyer to manage, three weeks of mining work begun, slate prepared for market. Red slate deposit sixteen miles east of Mena, black slate nearby. railroad expected to connect to Hot Springs, enhancing transport. Slate quality praised, demand deemed unlimited and industry seen as opening soon.

Prison Terms For Reed And Ware After Arkansas Trip
Sherif Joplin and Deputy Sheriff Bud Bickle returned from Little Rock where they deposited Jim Reed and Eck Ware behind bars. Reed was sentenced to one year for stealing a wagon and harness, Ware one year for stealing a saddle.

Pack-train heroes praised in Cuba letter from Tampa
A July 23 letter from P. Ek. Butler of pack-train No 3, in Santiago de Cuba, extols the corps for delivering ammunition and rations despite severe illness among troops. He credits Chamberlains Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy as the indirect savior of the army and warns that without supply wagons the front would fail. The note was sent to Chamberlain Medicine Co. and offers Hall's products for sale by F. C. Savage.
