Wheat harvest is underway but below average with 75 percent yield. Oats improved after a midmonth storm. corn recovering well from hail. Cotton acreage fell, leaving a light stand and small expected yield, with some land redirected to corn. Local mood optimistic about a Mena to Hot Springs railroad. Mrs. Bass Huddleston remains ill. Dr. J W Livingston of Superior Iowa plans to locate in Mena and partner with Dr W P Parks.
