Man from Sedalia Survives Suicide Attempt in City Hotel

Charles A. McGee of Sedalia attempted suicide at the New Albany hotel by morphine. Discovered early morning by an employee, he was taken to police headquarters and revived after five hours of medical care. McGee had recently moved through several towns seeking better fortunes before settling in Sedalia, with life insurance and frugal business losses cited as motives. He is known in Kansas City circles and held lodge memberships. friends hope he regains stability.

Norwood Buys Landes House on Amsterdam Street

A. S. Norwood bought the Landes house and lot on Amsterdam Street last week and will move in after Mr Landes relocates to his nearly finished new home. Kidney disease is warned as a major risk of feverish modern life and Prickly Ash Bitters is promoted as a remedy, with claims of soothing relief and restorative effects. Sold by Jackson Drug Co.

Fire at Tar Fire Behind Saloon Sparks Alarm

A blaze erupted around 2:30 yesterday when tar near Pat Mulraney's saloon caught fire. Firefighters and bystanders fought the flames with a chemical extinguisher and water. The incident narrowly endangered the saloon before the tar was controlled. Mrs Bettie Redman of Solgolia Ark endorses Dr M A Simmons Liver Medicine for indigestion.

Rustic Style Log Home Rising At College Hill

Fred Rausch leads a carpenter team in building a large double log house at College Hill. The project aims for rustic charm and modern comfort, following a fire that destroyed the Sherwood avenue residence two weeks ago. Once finished, the old park log house will no longer be the only example in town.

An Unusually Sad Death of Mrs Woodson

Mrs. Frank Woodson died at her home on Mena street and Port Arthur avenue on February 22 1899 after a two week illness from bronchial pneumonia. She was 19 and married to a Pittsburg and Gulf engineer. The funeral heads to White Oak cemetery tomorrow at 10 after which mourners will return to Shreveport.

Horticultural Society Meeting Deferred to February Twenty fifth

Members of the Polle County Horticultural Society are notified that due to unpleasant weather the meeting is postponed to Saturday February 25 at 1 30 p m in the mayor's office. Arranging to Ship Fruit in Cove Cooperative Plan

The Cove horticultural society met last Saturday to organize a cooperative shipment of strawberries for the coming season. J B Hickman of Janssen and A W St John of Mena advised, with Hickman to draft necessary papers. A follow up meeting was set for Thursday to select representatives for the Mena session on Saturday the 25th.

Notable anniversaries and birthday at local homes

On February 16 Lewis Cauter and wife celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary and his 61st birthday with 35 guests at their home. A later St Valentine gathering at Fred Wignall's housed about 50 guests with masques and festivities ending around midnight after oysters at Hotel De Midland.
