James D Shaver A Prominent Arkansas Lawyer Dies
Hon James A Shaver senior member of Shaver and Norwood, born in Arkansas on February 2 1861, married Subie Borden of Somerset Kentucky, admitted to the bar in 1884. A long career in law and public service earned him strong respect. he served in Arkansas General Assembly lower house and as prosecuting attorney for the Ninito Judicial circuit with high regard for fairness and ability.

Norwood Early Lifespan and Legal Rise in Arkansas
Mr Norwood pursued basic schooling at Lockesburg and studied at Hiram and Lydia college. He earned law training at Arkansas Industrial University Fayettville and Washington University Lexington. In 1892 he wed Kate Anderson and was elected representative at age twenty. He served as ward fair commissioner and board secretary, then prosecuting attorney of the Ninth Judicial Circuit in 1894. After election by a large majority he continued to win, later forming Shaver & Norwood in Mena, a leading district firm after eight years in office.
