Favorable to Railroads in Supreme Court Ruling
In an April 18 decision Justice Peckham declared invalid a Michigan law section that sold 1000 mile railroad tickets at a two year validity and reduced price. He ruled the act interfered improperly with regulation of railroads and discriminated, denying it as a valid exercise of power to set maximum rates. Chief Justice and Justices Gray and McKenna dissented.
