Rioting in Pana as troops considered to quell riot

An illinois town riot in Pana near the coal mine led to shots fired and armed crowds. Reports say two men were shot, several killed or wounded, with police and sheriff aiming to restore order as troops may be dispatched. The disturbance began after a drunken miner caused chaos downtown.

Frisco extension work advances to Blackwell with July 1 target

Work begins today on the Frisco extension from Arkansas City to Blackwell Oklahoma thirty teams are at work with plans to increase. The line will use a repaired track through Chiloceo Indian school lands and reach Blackwell by July 1. Sunk steamboat John K Speed on the Ohio at Louisville

The John K Speed, a large steamer, sank after a collision with the main dam opposite Fifth Street. Twenty three passengers and four crew were aboard and all were rescued safely amid the incident. A reader endorses Chamberlains Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy, with local sale noted.

Fire destroys six Miami businesses in suspicious blaze

A morning fire in Miami Indian Territory consumed six frame business houses, including J H Mooney Co general store, with hundreds responding. Officials suspect incendiary origin. The Jackson Drug Co advertises brushes paints oils perfumes and wall paper amid the blaze news.

Thorpe Transferred From Topeka to New York Charge

Edna Cox Marries But Silently Rejects Husband

A fragment from Evansville Indiana reports Edna Cox aged 18 wed John Garrett aged 40 at her parents urging. After the ceremony she declared she would not live with him and left to her cousin’s home, marking an abrupt end to the union.
