Fort a la Corne instructor W. Rothwell and J. E. Armstrong visit town. Indians predict 15000 bushels of grain and superb gardens as they prepare for the September 12 and 13 fair with sports crafts and a new 40 by 20 foot pavilion built by Indian labor.
The July report for Flett Springs school lists Grades I to VIII with student scores and attendance. Notable entries include Eddie Lantoot Mary Daclaux Myrtle Kirkhope and others. total enrollment 19 with 79 percent attendance. teacher McPherson.
The annual stock sale at Fort Corne Lodian reservation was held by tender on Thursday August 1d. Eight buyers attended and 47 head were sold. Thirty five prime three year old steers averaged 87 per head with overall sale average 72. Two choicest steers weighed 2725 pounds. George Fiamiglie of Tisdale was the successful tenderer. Cattle were brought to town Friday and shipped east Saturday. Last year Jos Claggett bought 57 head.
Aug. 7 Edenbridge pleasures drew townspeople and rural visitors by good roads and cool streams of the Carrot. Autos guided by F Ortloff and B Habe brought guests from Star City. Mr and Mrs E Philips Annie Goldie Sam Norman Book and G A Barra enjoyed mushrooms and friends delaying their return until dusk as the moniquotes reminded tomorrow is Monday. Frank Gordon and M Seigel planned a Winnipeg trip.
H. B. Rosh received the contract to build Jas Davidson’s new brick veneer residence three miles northeast of town. The 28 by 28 two story house will include a full cement basement a hot water heating plant modern plumbing and sanitary conveniences.
The Pleasantdale picnic drew about seven hundred people at the park by the lake on July 21 under Grain Growers auspices. The sports included multiple races for men women and children with prizes such as tobacco, ties, stockings, subscriptions, and hardware items donated by local merchants and sponsors.
The first meeting at Rev W R Tanton's home August 7 elected officers: President Rev L Mortimer, Vice President Rev W K R Tanton, Secy Treas Rev A Cross. Executive include Revs W H Pavy and Young Tisdale. Next meeting September with Prohibition paper by Rev Yogge Kinistino.
Last Friday afternoon at the traps J H Millard achieved his first possible with a run of 82 straight. Scores listed include J A Millard 25 28 22 20 for 90, J McGregor 16 20 21 21 for 78, Greenwood 7 5 8 10 for 30, and Beit Cumbes noted among entries.
List of successful candidates at the Third Class Part One exam held in four subjects spelling grammar arithmetic measuration and geography. Mrs Tanton hosted a Red Cross tea with help from Mr Millard Miss Young and Miss Hull. Contributions totaled 3.55 with donors including Mesdames Tanton Millard Boose Wittig Miss Wood and Miss Atkinson. Wild led the workroom with several helpers and donations of handkerchiefs and bags noted. A picnic is planned at St Brieux on August 17 under Catholic church auspices with a possible special train and Melfort band engagement.
John Scott of Teddington visited town selling hogs at a price of 10 cents per cent. He has over 200 acres under crop, promising a bumper yield across the northeast district. Scott also keeps forty head of cattle and notes transportation as the main hurdle to development.

In Melfort region on multiple dates August a daughter Poove to Pte and Mrs Corson and a son Oranx to Mr and Mrs George Clark reported. Also a birth for Mr and Mrs Goo Cos on August 5th and Cox On August 5th noted.
Over 700 residents attended a Great War anniversary rally in Melfort on Friday. The program included a 1 PM church service, speeches by G. B. Johnston M L A and Rev W R Taunton, a Patriotic Society pledge, and a band concert. Donations funded a children’s sports program and supper following the ceremony.
All Saints Church will hold services at its building on Sunday August 13 with morning prayer at 11 a m Sunday school and Bible class at 2 30 p m and evensong with sermon at 7 p m all at the parish church as announced.
A private wedding at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Durnin united Miss Olive Durnin to Mr. Francis of Rosthern on Monday afternoon August 7. Rev. Francis and Rev. A. M. McColl officiated on the verandah. The bride wore a cream poplin silk dress and carried white carnations, with a wedding gift locket from her mother. the groom gave a gold bracelet. The ceremony was followed by lunch and reception.
Wm Redman attended the Saskatoon fair last week. An exciting game of base ball on Wednesday evening saw the single men beat the married men 15 to 12 with a listed lineup. Friday’s patriotic picnic drew a large crowd at the school section. Ethelton defeated Pleasant Valley 15 to 2 in a Friday game. Rev Hosay left on a visit to Saskatoon and western points. Gordon Young Lyle and Harold Grainger of Melfort visit A Dobson.
A severe hail storm swept through Pathlow and Silver Park on Thursday, with strong winds damaging crops and tearing foliage from trees. Estimated losses exceed $50,000 at Pathlow as residents such as G. Sanderson and R. Rambler are listed among those affected. the storm tracked southeast for two to five miles, sparing Pleasant Valley and Pleasantdale areas.
Heavy rain since early morning disrupted fair events casting doubt on completion of remaining programs. Organizers postponed several planned activities and anticipate updates on the schedule as weather clears later today.

The Melfort Agricultural Society fair opens with near 1000 entries. Prominent Roasthern exhibit by J. F. Booth features farm models, preserved fruit and grain, stock photos, and over 100 free farm bulletins. Booth acts as judge in grain and roots as visitors view flowers, ladies work, home cooking, and children drawing displays.
Soldiers may take free railway transport to harvest within 300 miles of their station. Leave lasts thirty days after crops are ready, with possible extensions. Return to military duty once work with employer resumes or a written statement of employment. Farmers needing harvest help requested from local officials Hughes and Carter note the demand.
