Harmonie Club of Toronto captured the team epee gold at the Canadian fencing championships in Fredericton. R A Fencing Club of Ottawa earned silver, Mousquetaires of Montreal bronze. Earlier Scaramouche Club of Chibougamau won the men's sabre team title with R A and Mousquetaires taking silver and bronze. Ottawa R A led with five golds and four silvers for nine medals overall across the event.

Quebec divers dominated the Canadian age group meet in Winnipeg finishing with 13 golds 10 silvers and 10 bronzes. Top club Pointe Claire led with standout performers including David Snively and Enika Kiefer while Ontario Alberta Manitoba BC and Saskatchewan earned several medals.
Mayor Tom Bradley told Los Angeles City Council the city will refuse to host the 1984 Summer Games if faced with financial liability. He seeks insured protection or a performance bond. Council leaders consider withdrawing the offer if no agreement shields taxpayers.
