In Bridgeport Connecticut a cat named Lewis has attacked at least six people and its owner Ruth Cisero faces second degree reckless endangerment charges. Best Friends Animal Society offered to take Lewis free of charge, arguing specialists can handle cats with behaviour problems. The court decision is due Tuesday as Cisero seeks probation instead of euthanasia.
In Kandahar City, families of five interpreters killed by a Taliban bomb urge remaining Terps to quit. The blast also killed bystanders, wounded 17, and prompted counselling for survivors. Interpreters, vital to coalition operations, fear for their livelihoods and safety as talks of compensation and support unfold.
City council approves an Alarm Systems Bylaw aimed at cutting false alarms after a 50 percent rise over five years. Police logged about 2,500 and fire 300 plus incidents in 2005. He remains focused on walking, speaking, and returning to military duties.
An al Qaida linked group said it was holding two U S privates. Army Pfc Kristian Menchaca 23 of Houston and Pfc Thomas L Tucker 25 of Madras Oregon went missing last week in one of Iraq s most dangerous regions.
At the World Conference on Disaster Management, experts including Peter Power and Michael Smith warned Canada remains vulnerable to terrorist acts and pandemics.
