London observers note two major events this week, the International Horse Show and Ascot, will draw social attention away from coronation preparations. The royal procession will include a state appearance at Ascot on opening day and again on Thursday with the gold cup as a highlight.
Local Scouts Ivan Rossiter Clare Becker Joln Yuill Harlan Yuill and Horace Whiffin depart Saturday at 11 30 for Calgary to join Alberta contingents for the coronation. Gretna Manitoba June 12 The young daughter of Mr and Mrs Jacob Hölder residing near town was burned to death yesterday while lighting matches in a barn authorities reported no further details about the accident or the household at this time

Ottawa reports Col Fred White comptroller of the RNWMP may retire after forty three years in public service when Sir Wilfrid Laurier returns from London. White, 64, could receive full superannuation and would leave as head of the Mounted Police and administrator of vast unorganized territories.

Ottawa June 12 Edmonton has been selected as the place of meeting for next year’s General Assembly. The vote today carried with a strong western city majority in favor of Edmonton.
