Punjab unrest after raid anniversary sparks security push
Scattered rioting erupted in Punjab as authorities warned of continued high security after the Golden Temple raid anniversary. Akali Dal marked Genocide Week for about 1,000 civilians killed and 220 soldiers died in the June 4 7 attack. Militia Withdraws Threat to Kill Hostages in Lebanon
In Lebanon, a mainly Christian militia holding 23 Finnish UN peacekeepers withdrew its vow to execute one hostage per hour if 11 SLA prisoners aren’t freed.
