Three youngsters Sandy Gordon and David Cory, children of Capti and Mrs Tom Cory of Calgary, helped grandmother Mrs M A Cory at 239 First St SW today to dispose of wrappings and gifts in the back yard disposal unit. Similar scenes were taking place nearby.

Detec tive Edward Flood said the father claimed no aiming was involved, the shooting occurred as the child toddled into the room. The living room walls show numerous bullet holes from past practice.
Halifax report describes Cmdr William Howe of Port Arthur Ont guiding the destroyer escort Huron home on Christmas Day after a leaky hull and repairs in Toulon following a collision with a French warship during Mediterranean maneuvers. He credits escort help and notes the ship remained safe. His Christmas dinner featured hamburger as turkey froze in the fridge.

A disturbance from British Columbia brought light snow across northern and central Alberta and western Saskatchewan Thursday night and Friday morning with about an inch in some areas. A new disturbance near the B C coast will bring snow flurries tonight and Saturday while temperatures Saturday remain similar to today.
