Solon Low Dies at 62 in Shelly Montana

Solon E. Low former Alberta treasurer and long-time national Social Credit leader died Saturday in Shelly Montana at age 62. He helped launch Social Credit in Alberta during the 1930s and led the party for 16 years, later serving as juvenile and family court judge. His death follows years of ill health after a 1955 heart attack and his resignation as leader in 1961.

Freedom airlift brings 426 Cuban prisoners home

A Christmas Eve airlift delivered 426 Cuban exiles from Havana to Miami in a staged exchange for food and medicine. The first of several DC-6 planes landed at 6:06 p.m. EST with 108 prisoners. by 8:55 p.m. the fourth flight increased the total to 426.

Koreans Wage Sea Battle Near Yunpyung Island

A South Korean naval patrol boat and a North Korean vessel clashed in a gun battle near Yunpyung Island in the Yellow Sea. Two South Korean sailors were killed and four wounded as the North Korean ship reportedly opened fire first. government officials said damage to the North remained unconfirmed.

Four Hospitalized After Collision In City

Four people were taken to Mac's Ambulance after a two car crash at the intersection of 12th Street S E and 3rd Ave at 8 35 p m Sunday. Injured were Mrs Schneider 77 Louis Job and Erna Jun both of 170 Connaught Drive and Edward Neigel 13 of 267 11th Street S E. Total vehicle damage was about 1400 with 600 on the Job car and 800 on the Degenhardt car. Minor injuries, none detained. A separate 5 a m Sunday crash on 403 th Street S W involved Anthony Andreas Jr of 1166 Queen Street and a parked car owned by A R Collier, with 150 and 600 in damages respectively.
