Halline of 520 4th St. SW, with Mr. J. Cairney runner up. Santa display winner was Jack Suddert of 101 7th St. NW, honorable mention Mrs. P. Ofsdahl of 5386 Cambridge St.
Prime Minister Diefenbaker prepared to meet Prime Minister Macmillan with Foreign Secretary Lord Home after Friday talks with President Kennedy on defence trade and the European Common Market. Kennedy returns to Palm Beach for Christmas. Macmillan to London after wrapping up the Bahamas summit. The Polaris accord, praised by Diefenbaker, has limited relevance to Canada but implications for Britain and the United States.
London AP reporting that Macmillan and Kennedy agreed to replace Skybolt with Polaris missiles, drawing fierce opposition from Labor and some Conservatives. Critics argue the move is late and costly and questions Britain's nuclear independence. The PM must justify Polaris costs and related defense shifts before Parliament.
Medicine Hat secured leave to appeal to Alberta’s appellate division in the Rosemont Rental Developments service station case.
