McKinney Masons at St John s lodge and Haggai Chapter held a joint session Tuesday installing new officers. Threshing in Collin County progresses well with a fairly good grain crop and unusually strong oat yields amid favorable weather. Diversification by farmers grows, including orchards bees poultry and truck patches, strengthening the county economy. The Collin County Odd Fellows and Rebekahs meeting was postponed to July.

Native Born 78 Year Old Collin Negro of Mc Kinney
Dave Evans, a respected old Mc Kinney colored man, is one of the county's oldest natives born in Melissa in 1850. He recalls being born a slave of William Shirley and has lived in the county nearly all his life, seldom leaving it. Despite 78 years, he works daily mowing lawns hedge trimming and cotton picking, and cherishes his longtime white friends.
