County Agent Jack McCullough says Callin County farmers have pledged 175 acres to castor beans after a Daily Courier-Gazette appeal. The government will supply seed free and harvests will be done by Texas Power and Light Company at no charge. Farmers are guaranteed a net profit of 3.5 cents per pound and urged to keep this year’s yield as seed for next spring. J J Poston Dies at Higgins Community Home at 59
James Jefferson Poston a noted Higgins area farmer nine miles southeast of McKinney died after a three week illness at his Higgins home. Funeral services were held at Princeton Baptist Church with interment at Princeton Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Maggie Akins and four children Paul James Jr Jack and Mrs Bruce Nelson plus siblings and extended family. Poston born March 27 1882 in Overton County Tennessee moved to Collin County as a young man. He was active in the Baptist Church.
