A farmer jokes that he paints COW on both sides of his cattle to reduce herd mortality before hunting season. Asked about bulls, he quips that signs on bulls would not help city hunters with the tails.
Doctor A says a patient with a split personality pays both doctors. Doctor B notes it’s common, but this case is unique because both doctors receive payment from the same patient.

A party honors Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Simpson as they head to the Lions International Convention in Nice France. McKinney Lions Club members hosted a bon voyage with a travel theme. The Transportation Committee of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce planned the Highway 121 ribbon cutting around August 15 at the Collin Fannin line with a barbecue and public tickets. Attendees included McKinney Chamber leaders Pat Simpson and Clyde Emmons along with city, county, and area chamber officials from Bonham Fort Worth and Trenton.
Juergen Kossmann 29 and Hans-Peter Schubert 22 escaped East Germany by scaling a barbed wire fence amid gunfire. Kossmann blamed his parents who he says betrayed him to authorities, causing eight months imprisonment. His father is village mayor and his mother a town council party secretary.
Buster Cole, Bonham attorney and current bar vice president, won the mail ballot to become president elect of the Texas Bar Association. He defeats Homer E. Dean Jr. of Alice while W. Licensed Vocational Nurses Division 43 will meet in the Community Room of Collins County National Bank Thursday evening June 7 at 7 30 p.m. George Smith will be guest speaker discussing Civil Defense. All LVNs in the county are invited.
A powerful tornado destroyed a concrete block building on Vernon's edge. Twisters hit areas near Fort Stockton Higgins Follett and Vernon while storms raked North Central and Northeast Texas. Two buildings damaged in Vernon and Vernon Terminal area with heavy rain hail and downed power lines reported.
In Paris, Dean Sturgis L. Riddle led a memorial at the American Cathedral for 130 victims of a jetliner crash near Paris, including 121 Americans and nine French crew. Beginning band students met in the high school band room Tuesday morning to arrange summer courses. McKinney Schools music coordinator B J Webber reports 75 in attendance and hopes to reach about 200 next school year. The 60 minute lessons run six to eight weeks with specific grade times each weekday for clarinets trumpets cornets trombones saxophones horns and flutes.
