A crowd of 860 cotton farmers gathered in Van Alstyne and Howe to receive 1934 acreage reduction checks. County Agent B F Gray distributed funds at Van Alstyne at 4 p.m. The First National Bank of Van Alstyne stayed open until 6 30 p.m. to process 281 checks totaling about 8500 dollars.
