William Bryant Sr. Dies After Weeks of Illness
William Bryant Sr died at his home on S Chestnut Street after a brief illness. Born in Tennessee in 1832, he served in the Civil War, was captured at Chickamauga, refused to take an oath for release, and later helped establish public schools in Tennessee. He lived in East Tennessee before moving to McKinney, leaving seven children and a wife.

Fire devastates Texas Cotton Mill in McKinney loss tops 95 thousand
A fire at the Texas Cotton Mill in South McKinney caused about 95 000 in damage with insurance covering losses. The blaze started in the drying room and spread through other departments. the McKinney volunteers fought the flames but most of the mill’s drying area was ruined, with substantial machinery and material losses.
