Is struck thought that uple reason p r other. Without go into the merits or demerits of either Side in the controversy Between capital and labor glance beneath the surface sometimes change the aspect of things. The published reports of the demands of certain classes of workers on the surface appear to be exorbitant in Many instances when a closer Survey of the situation often reveals the fact that As a result of deliberate curtailment of production on the part of the manufacturer or operator such workers Only succeed in putting in two or three Days a week and the increased wages asked no More than allow them to keep tip the Battle of existence. Under such circumstances increased wage demands Are not so unreasonable after All and offer no excuse for the cry of bolshevism which is in Many instances by propaganda. They Are going after the gun voters m Cuya hoga county Ohio. This policy was decided on when it was found that 25 percent of the cases awaiting the grand jury had their Ori Gin in carrying concealed weapons while in Many additional cases the carrying of a Revol ver was listed As a minor offence. It appears that the Possession and use of firearms Are on the increase in Many parts of the country at a time when there is less justification for the practice than Ever before. The interests of decent society demand the eradication of the evil says the clean Herald. The gun Toter is a potential killer. He May not know it himself but the fact remains. The disorderly spirit slips its Leash the weapon is Handy and the deed is done. The Tough youth m the Corner gang is raised from roughness to criminality by the Mere consciousness of the weapon in his pocket. The foreigner who should seek the Law to redress his wrongs goes gunning instead and society has to for a murder trial and support a family bereft by the deed. The hold up men would vanish from the Earth or be reduced to a negligible mini mum when once they found themselves without the revolver with which to threaten their unarmed victims. The percentage of crimes for which gun carrying is responsible is probably about the same m most communities. The evil can and should be checked. Are fuel if there is anything in a name mrs. Ada Cable of Bradford should be Able to pull the democratic women voters together. Senator Harding threatens would be a better elected by reverse the foreign policy of the United states. Repudiation of the treaty under which we built the Panama canal. Return of Alaska to Russia. Repudiation of our Entrance into the world War to overthrow German autocracy and make the world Safe for democracy. Repudiation of our refusal to recognize the bolshevik government. Repudiation of our policy of non intervention in Mexico. These Are a few familiar phases of our foreign policy that senator Harding would completely reverse. Is it any mystery Why they keep him chained on so a decided loss for that period. There is much food for thought in these figures for the Dweller in Smith port and Vicinity. Especially is this True of the Republican press which in the absence of any real issues to defend does not openly attack the four Square straight Forward issues advanced by governor Cox but rather relies on a Campaign of veiled innuendos against the candidate s religion looks and Cut of his clothes. Such tactics Are not going to make much of a hit with the aver age rep thinking male or female voter who views with concern the upset economic Condit Ion of the United states and the world at Large and who has already become disgusted with the dilatory responsibility dodging tactics of Ouri statesmen in w Ever to do its share towards the town s Bosn having already betterment seizes every Effort to blocked every bit of reconstructive legislation they possibly could for partisan reasons the re publicans Are now Bent on making partisanship a More potent Factor in government control. Partisanship is. A business administration would sum it up. During the present democratic administration some of the leading members of the Republican party have been called to important counselling positions in the government by reas on of their ability irregardless of political affiliations. Who can recall an instance of this kind when the government was under partisan re publican control. And the leaders of that party Are asking the voters to countenance a return of just system of party control of govern ment. We wonder just How much sympathy this will be greated with by soldiers of the world War who Are asked to forget the principles for which they stood and repudiate the candidate who is championing them because of the cast of his rounc11 to raise Money features or the color of his socks. Such tactics of Barbage Are hastening the Day when political thought will crystallize into two groups conservative and lib eral which exist to Day Only Are be clouded by the two old parties.
