Wide new Hillside pavement to replace dangerous Road the state Highway department has finally taken cognizance of the extreme danger of Tho Steep crooked Hillside pavement on Tho other Side of Rew Hill on the route of tha Smethport Bradford Highway and will Early take stops to remedy the same county solicitor f. D. Gallup informed the Smethport canopus club at its meet ing at the grand Central hotel monday noon. Or. Gallup stated that plans for building a now stretch of Road with a preliminary relocation Survey will be taken up right away. The new Hill Road will eliminate the Sharp curves near Tho toot of the Hill and near the top and will ascend the Mountain by an easier Grade made possible by fills. It is possible that a right of Way 100 feet in Width will be taken Over. Plans further include the widening of the narrow stretch of Road extend ing from the foot of the Hill for some distance towards Bradford to a Point near Tho intersection of the Dallas and dlr Ford Highway. Gallup stated that land owners along the Hill Highway have already been informed regarding the state s plans for a new Rew Hill Road and instructed not to build along the right of Way until the new Survey is completed. News of the proposed improvement will be favourably received As this particular stretch of Hillside pavement is an extremely dangerous one particularly in Winter when it becomes a Glare of ice.
