Hoover Tops Kansas City Convention Platform Outlook
The Kansas City Republican Convention nominated Herbert C. Hoover on the first ballot amid a platform opposing farm relief with any equalization fee, backing prohibition enforcement, high tariffs, anti League of Nations sentiment, and support for armed intervention in Nicaragua. Senator Borah dominated the convention, shaping the party’s stance despite remaining doubts about Hoover’s appeal versus Smith.
