Three Thousand Acres For National Forest Purchase

The Allegheny Purchase Unit aims to acquire 74000 acres in northwestern Pennsylvania for the National Forest. Federal action in Washington outlines land offered by 26 individuals across 12 counties at about 2.73 per acre, with most lands stripped of merchantable timber but future growth intact. Oil, gas, and minor rights remain, and forest service policy allows development rights while protecting industrial activity nearby. The move supports the Allegheny Highway project and signals steady execution with funds available July 1 as additional lands come forward.
