Local Pencilings and Fourth of July in Smethport
In Smethport McKean County notes residents reported tidy gardens and a Swedish Mission church gathering at the G0 Layson farm. The Fourth of July passed quietly with many attending nearby Johnsonburg events, soda crackers and simple celebrations marking the day. Verdant social life, town concerns, and upcoming repairs feature among names like Hopper, Browell, Clark, Knapp, Hammar, and many local families mentioned in a long, readable local column.
