Smethport now has a brass band that will compare with any Amateur organization in this Section of the United states and when the roads get better Tho local musicians who now number Twenty Are to be aug. Rented by a number of skilled per formers residing in this Section who have volunteered to join the local or gang Patlon. This assures an instr. Mentation of full concert band proportions second to none and the weekly organization s open air concerts this summer should prove events that will draw Many people to Smethport on concert nights. In this arrangement it is expected that local business men will cooperate with the result that business places will be open on concert nights to accommodate persons from this Vicinity who come to town so that they will to Able to enjoy an hour s band con Cert and incidentally Flo their shopping at the same time. Noon at 3 of clock when an hour s con motor bus line to Backus government will transport mail Over land Between b. R. P. Trains and Smethport. While taxis now ply Between Smith port anal the b. H. P. Railroad trains it Backus a regular motor run carry ing a mute will be established in Tho near future. The government has asked for Bode for the contract of hauling mail be tween the Smethport Post office and Backus. Sever til local parties have submitted Bode for this important con tract which will probably be awarded within a few Days. All the bidders Are prepared to establish a motor bus line running1 on regular schedule carrying passengers and mail in the eve Cut of receiving the contract. The establishment of such a bus ser vice would Supply needs in this particular direction admirably. As the run from Backus to Smethport consumes Lens than 30 minutes such a service should prove satisfactory and lucrative the year round. The commencement the Smith.
