Smethport High School Class of 1912 Graduates
The Smethport High School Class of 1912, largest yet with sixteen graduates, enjoyed a full week of events led by Principal Bright and the faculty. A baccalaureate sermon by Rev. J. W. McGovern preceded class day exercises at the Lyceum, with speakers, songs, and tributes. The commencement at the Lyceum Tuesday evening featured Rev. A. B. McCormick, diplomas, and a valedictory, as Dr. John Clark and officials praised the class and presented diplomas to the sixteen graduates.

Bradford to host Good Roads convention Thursday June 4 and two sessions Thursday evening June 6 at the Exchange Lyceum. Prominent road officials from the United States will address audiences. a 6 PM dinner is planned with road supervisors and their wives. John D Dugan aged about 85 died at 12 15 Saturday at his son s home St Elizabeth s parochial residence following a week illness due to old age He was born in Ireland in 1819 came to the United States in 1842 lived in Pittsburgh California and Erie before moving two years ago to Smethport to live with his son He is survived by his wife three sons Rev Father J E Dugan Edward B eau and two daughters Mrs Margaret Kinner and Mrs Susan Berry The funeral was held at St Elizabeth s church and later at St Patrick s Erie Trinity cemetery was his final resting place

An eight year old boy, Walter Manheimer, escaped serious injury after being run over by a slowly moving automobile on Main Street late Friday night. He was riding a bicycle with a companion when he veered in front of the car. though crushed by a wheel, he suffered only minor scratches and a bruised toe, with the bicycle badly damaged.

Man Takes Carbolic Acid In Tragic Lovers’ Pact
Neal McFarland a 34 year old farmer from Lovejoy farm near Duke Center died after swallowing carbolic acid early Sunday following a dispute over whiskey with his wife. The couple, once workers for the elderly Mr Lovejoy, had married after his death and moved to a Creson sanatorium project site with plans to expand to 320 beds. Coroner Sherman and Dr Snyder were notified. the death occurred within minutes and the couple’s troubled history is noted in the report.
