Chas Riegel of Eden Valley was a Maurice visitor Thursday. Geo Van Pearsem and Henry Warntjes were at the county seat Thursday. C Hospers Orange City's merchant was a pleasant caller Wednesday. The American Reformed church service Sunday morning was by Fider Mensink. No evening service. J Hoogswingen Perkins was here between trains Saturday evening. They had three days more to travel to their new home. Mrs J T Crowley and son LeRoy and Mrs J C Harrison and daughter attended a recital at Treton last Friday evening. Two light rains since last issue. soil moisture good. Warm weather needed. Corn planting nearly finished this week.
The community mourns the death of Mrs. Jas De Jong who died Sunday at 11:30 AM after a period of poor health. She leaves husband Jacobus De Jong and nine children Koen Hattie Anna Haybert Fred Tillie Bertha Harold, plus sister Mary Rhynsburger and others. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the First Ref church with long visitation and prayers.
A complete stock for men has not yet been received, leaving shelves short of ready clothing. The note indicates delays in delivery and potential restocking timelines. Local department store informally warns customers of limited inventory for men’s apparel.

Six officers in red handkerchiefs and slouch hats jumped from behind rocks to scare DePauw University students strolling toward Big Four Springs. Landowner Hiram Rudisill claims the trail over his Voss place is trespassed and warned students away after past fires and marshmallows.
