A roof fire at a local hotel Tuesday evening around seven caused a skyward blaze before the fire department brought it under control. Smoke and water damage followed, with a large raft hole burned.

A roof fire at a local hotel Tuesday evening around seven caused a skyward blaze before the fire department brought it under control. Smoke and water damage followed, with a large raft hole burned.
Relatives report Mrs. Fon Schueller of Rock Valley a former Maurice resident died Friday at age 48. She leaves a daughter a step daughter a step son a sister and two brothers. Burial was held Sunday in Rock Valley with Maurice attendees.
Dr and Mrs Gypel hosted relatives Saturday for George De Groot and spouse wedding anniversary. Miss Heinrich hosted a teacher bridge party Monday with refreshments. Miss Lucille Van Peursem hosted a 6 30 May Day dinner Wednesday in yellow and white. Friends gathered at Annetta Jansma’s Saturday for games and lunch. The Women’s Farm Bureau met at Mrs Bowen’s Tuesday to basket weave. The Ladies Aid of the American Reformed church met at Mrs Will Klessig Thursday for Mission Study. Mr and Mrs Fred Vis visited from Harrison SD, Friday, returning Monday with Mrs Straks. Luke Warntjes drove to Orange City Friday. Mr and Mrs Oscay Tonne son and children visited Le Mars Saturday. Mr and Mrs Jim Kool visited Bayden relatives Sunday.
J. P Ritter president of the Riter Implement Co announces the opening of a farm implement store in Maurice occupying the John Peelan store on Main street. Sam Schutt named resident manager brings expert experience. The firm operates five implement houses including Treton Hawarden Craig Akron and Maurice.
Five boys already joined the Market Pig Club and will weigh their pigs for feed soon. Records track gains as pigs will be shown at the Sioux County Fair. More members may enroll before June 1, with ages 10 to 18 eligible by writing to the County Agent.
