Maurice School District election yields brisk voter turnout
The Maurice Poudre school district annual election attracted about 110 voters. Two school directors were chosen from four candidates, Gerrit Kuiken and Henry G Brink elected for three year terms, with John Hoekstra and Martin Van Wasely, Ravenhorst, close. One vote spoiled. Charley Jansme was named treasurer. Community comments on future politics and local business were noted.

Fire department was called twice this week. A Thursday fire at Mrs. Henry Meyers home caused heavy damage and led to her relocation to the county home. A second blaze at the C. M. Ry depot chimney was quickly extinguished with minor damage.

Pioneers Here Wedded 54 Years
Mr and Mrs Charles Daven celebrated the 54th wedding anniversary with a large gathering from Maurice and Orange City. The couple, early pioneers of Ainhire, were honored at a social evening and luncheon. A son born March 4 1925 to Mr and Mrs Oliver Mieras of Detroit Lakes, Minn was noted. Several local residents were listed visiting or hosting events and church groups held seasonal meetings.
