The Maurice blacksmith shop failed to sell at Saturday bids and will remain active under John Peelen and T Stellviewerf. Plans include adding a garage with Ralph Mieras as a watchdog. Other Maurice happenings include a service station at Million Dollar Corner soon, a caucus next Monday at the fire station, and various local visits and events such as church activities, school play, and community news.
Mr and Mrs Geo Van Pearsem longtime Sioux county settlers celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in Le Mars on March 2 with a small family gathering. They arrived from the Netherlands as youths, helped establish Holland settlements in Marion and Sioux counties, endured grasshopper plagues and frontier hardships, later moving to Maurice in 1900 and remaining near their children today.
