Maurice town proclaims January 24 to February 3 as a campaign period to promote War Savings and Thrift Stamps. Mayor F Davens urges universal saving to aid troops and nation. Also notes a law requiring birth reports from January 1, 1918 with penalties for noncompliance. Little Miss Stickel heads the birth-report list.
A government order requires mass residents who are subjects of the German Empire or Government and age 14 or older, not naturalized, to register as alien enemies. Registration runs February 4 to 9 within the local post office district, with blanks at Maurice post office. Registrants must sign an affidavit, provide four mounted photos, and submit fingerprints.
