Florida farmer builds fence and plans grove in Lakeland
The letter from W. Black, formerly of ae hag, describes clearing forty acres in Florida, building a 48 inch woven wire fence with barbed wire, and renting land for a watermelon crop. He mentions ordering orange and grapefruit trees for next year, costs exceeding $1,000, and expects variable yields based on weather and market conditions. He notes workers, local terrain, and the threat of snakes while outlining planting and cultivation plans.

Grace May Dale of Treton married Vernon Ahdian in Sioux City on December 26. Only close relatives attended. Grace, a Treton native, educated at the local public school, graduated with honors from high school and became a well known figure in social circles. Vernon, from Montgomery, Missouri, worked near Ireton on bridge construction before the couple moved to Sioux City to start their new life. We extend congratulations and best wishes.
