Maurice Commercial Club met last Monday night in a nearly full session. Discussions covered the Blacksmith shop and Want Store disposals and proposals for job placement and town development. Residents contributed notes on Sioux County Farm Bureau booth at the county fair and various local visits and events through the week.
A civic exhortation urges men to adopt Robert Louis Stevenson’s code emphasizing diligence, frugality, and informed, cheerful enterprise. It calls for learning from history, pursuing quality, staying informed, and cooperating earnestly with business partners.
An editorial in Liberty Megazine extols punctuality as a key business asset and personal virtue. It warns that arriving late for appointments diminishes outcomes and stresses living five minutes ahead of time to improve daily life, productivity, and rewards.
Hannibal Tosel, a wealthy Italian, allegedly earned his fortune after a Parisian style hoax near Naples. A stone near Naples bore a French inscription promising a miracle each May 1 at six in the morning. In 1641 Tosca unearthed a hidden leather snap filled with 80,000 francs.

Members of the American Reform church and relatives helped place a fine monument on the grave of Rev J E Winter in Sherman township cemetery. Winter, a former pastor, is remembered for a sincere Christian life and love and esteem shown by the memorial. Bernie and Ruth Warntjes were Alton visitors Monday and Mrs Warntjes and children visited Sioux City Sunday. Mr and Mrs B Vellinga and children were Orange City visitors Wednesday. Miss Eunice Aluisenburg of Orange City spent several days at the Gerrit Acts home last week. Mr Niesink and Mrs Rendink of Soo Center were guests of Rev and Mrs de Lange Thursday.
