SSMMA to present waste needs study results
The South Suburban Mayors and Administrators Association will reveal Phase I findings from a 5 to 20 year waste needs study conducted by Envirodyne Engineers. Nine towns back incinerator resolutions and more join as Phase II funding effort seeks $21,000 in local contributions.

Homewood Flossmoor women honored for volunteerism
Ruth Friedman of Homewood and Irene Uhlmann of Flossmoor were named outstanding volunteers at Jewish Community Centers of Chicago 86th annual meeting at Chicago Hilton Towers. Friedman has long served Stone Center and school programs since 1982 while guiding fundraising efforts and Hadassah activities. Uhlmann chairs the Stone Center Gift Shop, oversees staff and policies, and has held Hadassah roles including Youth Aliyah co vice president.
